Step 1 – Open Account
Note: Bookies can change or amend offers at any point and occasionally they may have 2 different offers running at the same time. If the offer you go to doesn’t correspond to these instructions, you can ask for guidance in the forum (see end of this post for the forum link)
First things first, you need to open an account with Matchbook & deposit £30.
Matchbook's commission is stated at 1.15% but they have some formulae which alters that depending on what you bet on and whether you win or lose, so for the purposes of this I recommend that you input their commission as 1.50% as it generally works out about right.
I recommend that you use a Debit Card or Pockit Card for your first deposit as most bookies do not award your welcome bonus if you use Neteller, PayPal or Skrill.

Make sure that you also have an account with either Betfair or Smarkets to place your lay bets.

Step 2 – Your Qualifying Bet (£15 Back Bet)
There is software for this bookmaker at the bottom of the page but if you can’t find odds in the range you like, then use our fully featured Odds Software to find the best match possible. If required, please familiarise yourself with the Odds Software Academy Training.
It’s important that you make sure you have enough money at your betting exchange to cover the liability before placing your bet at the bookmaker.
Make sure the back odds are 2.50 or lower.
After you have found an event you like the look of you need to use the Matched Betting Calculator because you need to enter a back commission.
You need to input the following information:
- Select FREE BET (SNR) Stake Not Returned
- The BOOKMAKER STAKE is £15
- The BOOKMAKER ODDS are whatever you have found in the software for Matchbook (remember 2.50 downwards)
- The BACK COMMISSION is 1.50%
- The EXCHANGE ODDS are the current lay odds at the appropriate betting exchange
- The LAY COMMISSION is your lay commission for the appropriate betting exchange (5% Betfair, 2% Smarkets)
- Place your back bet with Matchbook and your lay bet at the betting exchange.
If the bet wins at Matchbook, you will have made a profit of around £8 and this offer is complete.
If the bet loses at Matchbook, you will have made a loss of around £8 and you will receive a £15 free bet within 72 hours.
Step 3 – Your Rollover Bets
If you've received a free bet as per Step 2, you now need to place an additional £75 worth of bets before the free bet becomes withdrawable.

If your first lay bet of £15 or greater loses, Matchbook will refund you with a free bet.
To be eligible for a free bet if your lay bet loses the lay odds have to be 1.67 or higher.
If you do receive a free bet, simply complete £75 of wagering as per the instructions in Step 3 above
